We compared the application advantages of lasers in glass marking. In fact, in order to meet more applications of glass in daily life, we often need to perform secondary processing on glass shapes, such as cutting and drilling. The application of traditional technology for secondary processing often cannot take into account the processing cost, precision and efficiency. So what are the advantages of laser in facing these problems?
1. Traditional glass cutting and drilling
In general industrial production, the commonly used glass cutting and drilling methods are: CNC grinding, water jet cutting and cutter wheel cutting.
Water jet cutting: Use the pressurizing device to spray high-pressure water and mix it with hard sand to process the glass. Automatic water jet cutting can open holes in the middle of the glass, and can also achieve curved cutting, with high graphics accuracy. However, a large amount of water and sand need to be used in the process of use, which not only has a high cost of use, but also has a large impact on the environment. At the same time, the impact force is large, which is not suitable for the processing of thin glass.
Knife wheel cutting is a cutting method in which a knife wheel is used to scribe a line on the glass, and then mechanical stress is applied to split the finished product. Although simple and effective, the cost is low, but the knife-cut glass has large chipping and rough edges; the yield of the finished product is low, and the post-processing process is complicated; and it is not conducive to special-shaped cutting, and it is often difficult to meet the precision requirements of small size. At the same time, additional attention should be paid to the safety protection of construction workers during the cutting process.
CNC grinding is a way of processing the shape and contour of glass with a drill. Different processes can be completed by changing drill bits of different specifications. However, in the drilling process, a water-cooled drill bit and a cold water recovery device are required, and the drill bit needs to be replaced regularly, resulting in a high overall cost; in addition, the grinding takes a long time.
2. Laser glass cutting
With the increasingly fine, precise and strict requirements for glass applications in all walks of life, the application of lasers in glass cutting and drilling is more breakthrough. Not only the cutting width is large and the precision is high, but also all kinds of special-shaped cutting can be flexibly realized. At the same time, the laser cutting glass produces almost no residual stress, high edge strength, no cracks and very small edge chipping.
3. Laser glass drilling
Because the laser has high precision in glass cutting and is suitable for all kinds of special-shaped cutting, generally speaking, our application of glass drilling is similar to glass cutting.
